PRESS RELEASE

Original limited edition high-quality in-ear headphones to become full model following success of charitable campaign.

Cambridge Audio SE1 available in April from www.cambridgeaudio.com price £68

Originally launched in 2016, the SE1s debuted as part of an innovative programme where consumers could pay their own price – with 100% of the proceeds donated to national charity Youth Music.

A limited edition run of just 1000 pieces was produced, and incredibly all sold in less than 24 hours with nearly £27,000 being raised for the charity. The funds were invested into music-making projects forchildren and young people.

The original campaign introduced many new music fans to the Cambridge Audio brand allowing them to enjoy their favourite tracks replayed with the quality of the Great British Sound for the first time.

The result was a positive experience all-round, with a very vocal and positive customer reaction that contributed to a demand for the SE1s which convinced Cambridge Audio to put the headphones on full sale.

The SE1s will only be available directly via the Cambridge Audio website which enables the company to offer the headphone at an ultra competitive price while also continuing to donate 50% of the proceeds to Youth Music.

In a similar fashion to their award winning hi-fi electronics and wireless speakers, the SE1s were conceived, designed and engineered at Cambridge Audio’s HQ in London SE1 benefitting from the company’s near 50 years’ experience of creating some of the finest sounding audio products - each delivering that neutral, uncoloured and ultra-realistic musical performance known as the Great British Sound.

Also in common with all Cambridge Audio products, the SE1s feature materials and a specification normally reserved for far more expensive headphones.

The Tech Spec

A key part of delivering the high level of performance is down to the use of an expensive, rare material, Beryllium in the diaphragms of the specially developed 8mm speaker drivers. Beryllium is an ideal material thanks to it being lighter than Aluminium while stiffer than titanium and is also exceptionally well damped, minimising any unwanted ‘ringing’.

To avoid colouring the pure sound of the SE1s, the driver housing is machined from rigid, aircraft-grade Aluminium while high purity oxygen-free copper can be found in the connecting wires.

This combination provides a very fast but remarkably accurate response with exceptionally low distortion, giving a punchy yet silky smooth and clean sound.

The high quality theme extends to SE1 headphone’s overall design with an in-line mic & remote control and storage pouch.

Seven different ear tips are also provided including three different sizes of Comply® foam ear tips (small, medium, large) and four different silicone ear tips (small, 2 x medium, large).

All in all, this high quality in-ear headphone is an exceptional product both for its continued charitable contribution to Youth Music and in its ability to bring you closer to your favourite tracks.

Making music. Changing lives.

Youth Music is a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances.

Everyone should have the chance to make music. And those facing difficulties - economic problems, lifelong conditions, tough circumstances or behavioural issues - are often the ones who get the most out of music-making.

Projects supported by Youth Music help young people develop musically, of course, but they have personal and social outcomes too.

The charity offers meaningful chances to young people in complicated situations.

About Cambridge Audio www.cambridgeaudio.com

Since Cambridge Audio released its iconic P40 amplifier in 1968 the company has pursued one simple objective: to produce audio equipment that faithfully creates a pure and natural sound. Whilst our contemporaries in America like heavier bass in their playback and often in Asia brands emphasise a mid-range mix to carry vocals, we at Cambridge Audio are sold on the unfiltered, unadulterated ‘British Sound’. We believe it’s simply the purest and most faithful reproduction of whatever you’re listening to, so you hear music exactly the way its creators wanted it to sound. We achieve this by identifying the best possible components before carefully fine-tuning how we put them together. Put simply, we use our expertise to remove the barriers between you and your music, so you can just get on with enjoying it.
