Thanks entirely to the immediate availability of wholesale purchase of parts of BT's new fibre network, much like the Local Loop Unbundling used by ISPs to offer competative services over BT phone lines, Sky has now announced plans to launch a new fibre broadband service in April.
The new service, 'Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre' will be available at £20 per month, and feature the same 40Mbps speed as BT Infinity and, with fingers crossed, will head towards 300Mbps in the coming months as BT looks to update the service over the summer period. Sky has confirmed that the service will not feature a usage cap. As the new product will be rolling out over BT fibre, it's of course limited to the cable network's coverage, with BT expected to have the service available to around one third of the country by the the time the it launches this April.
