Gigabyte launches GeForce GTX 960 Xtreme with RGB lighting

PCs and accessories maker Gigabyte has expanded its range of Nvidia graphics cards with the GV-N960XTREME-4GD. For those who can't decode Gigabyte product numbers manually, this is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 GPU based graphics card, it's 'XTREME' due to its aggressive OC and Gaming modes, and 4GD signifies 4GB of graphics memory, GDDR5 in this case. As an added bling bonus the GTX 960 Xtreme features RGB lighting of the twin fans and top decal plate.

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 Xtreme has the following key specifications:

  • GPU: GeForce GTX 960 Maxwell
  • Core clock options: OC Mode: Boost: 1367 MHz/ Base: 1304 MHz
    Gaming Mode: Boost: 1342 MHz/ Base: 1279 MHz
  • Memory: 4GB GDDR5 on 128-bit bus at 7010MHz
  • Connectors: 3x DP1.2 connectors, one HDMI 2.0, and one DVI-I connector
  • MultiView: 4 screens
  • Power: 1x 8 pin and 1x 6-pin connectors, 400W PSU recommended
  • Size: H=40 L=262 W=127mm

Compared to the GTX 960 reference design Gigabyte said that the GV-N960XTREME-4GD offers a multitude of advantages including; approximately 10 per cent better performance in modern games, the WindForce 2X cooling system with alternate spinning fan design and pure copper heatpipes, 'xtreme' durability thanks to choice components, and great overclocking potential.

Potential buyers might like to know that this card has had its GPU selected for higher overclocking capability via the Gigabyte 'GPU Gauntlet' sorting system.

Above and beyond the above tech specs, those who like to show off their PC systems can enjoy the 16.8 million colour RGB lighting effects covering the twin 3D stripe-curved fans plus the 'XTREME GAMING' logo on the graphics card top panel.

Aren't LED fans generally worse performers than non-LED fans?
Due to having power connection issues with my MSI GTX960 when I first got it, I think the Smart Power Connections on this card are an excellent little addition.
