ASUS has announced the worldwide availability of its Strix GTX 980 Ti with DirectCU III cooling technology. The well known Taiwanese PC components and devices maker claims that, thanks to the use of its new DirectCU III cooler with a patented triple wing-blade fan, users can enjoy a 30 per cent cooler, 3X quieter graphics card, enhanced with a silent 0dB mode. This graphics card was first seen at Computex in early June.

HEXUS reviewed the ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Strix and now it has a more powerful stable mate in the shape of this newly announced GTX 980 Ti version. We found the GTX 980 Strix to present a well-rounded package with plenty of additional overclocking headroom. Itwas indeed silent at low loads, with excellent cooling performance when needed. The newly released ASUS Strix GTX 980 Ti boasts an even more advanced cooler with the debut of the DirectCU III design.

The key specifications of the newly released top of the range ASUS Strix graphics card are as follows:

  • Nvidia Maxwell GM200 GPU
  • 2816 CUDA cores
  • 1216MHz base clock in OC mode (up from 1000MHz)
  • 1317MHz boost clock in OC mode (up from 1075MHz)
  • 6GB of GDDR5 memory operating at 7200MHz (effective) on a 384bit memory bus
  • DirectCU III with Triple Wing-Blade 0dB Fan design
  • Auto-Extreme technology with Super Alloy Power II
  • GPU Tweak II with XSplit Gamecaster

ASUS says that the Strix GTX 980 Ti can achieve 24 per cent faster gaming performance than reference cards in hot gaming property The Witcher 3. Furthermore its implementation of ASUS Auto-Extreme manufacturing technology, combined with Super Alloy Power II components plus GPU Tweak II will allow you to push it further with enhanced efficiency, reduced power loss, decreased buzzing under load, and lower thermal dynamics. The card boasts a 12+2-phase power design.

To add value to the package ASUS includes a 1-year XSplit Gamecaster premium license worth $99 for gameplay streaming and recording. Worldwide availability is said to be scheduled for later this month, pricing was not disclosed.

30% cooler? really?
For an engineering firm they could be a bit more accurate with their claims. That would be sub-zero temperatures.

are you confusing percentages with degrees?
No mention of if the card might have coil whine, and what the returns policy is if it does.

no.
They are most likely taking a percentage of degrees Celsius, something which doesn't make sense. You can only do that in kelvin.
e.g 65 celsius, 338 kelvin. 30% cooler would be ~237 K, which is ~-36C
