There's plenty of sought-after technology out there these days, and with billboards and TV advertisements you're not short on reminders of what the industry thinks you need. Consoles, PCs, VR headsets, smartphones, and gadgets will begin to proliferate the advertising spaces in the coming weeks.

But what do you actually want? To find out, our hypothetical question of the week goes something like this: if you were given £500 on the condition that it must be spent on tech-related items, what would you buy?

We're talking actual gadgets and gizmos that you yourself want - so buying bitcoins, spending the budget on lab-grown vegetables or gifting it to Wikipedia doesn't count - and, the funds would expire within a month so you can't hold on to the money in anticipation of an iPhone 8.

There's an incredible amount of choice and we're expecting some interesting answers, so let's hear it: what tech would you buy with £500 to spend? And, because we're nice, you're allowed to have multiple items that add up to that figure. Go hypothetically spend, people!

If someone gave me £500, I'd probably get a 1070 and upgrade my RAM from 6GB to 16GB. I'd consider getting a fancy keyboard too.
I have a suggestion I don't think many are going to think of on this site: Robot Vacuum.

I paid about £500 for one earlier this year and it's the best investment I've ever made. Floors have never looked so clean.
GTX 1060 & a new TV. I have dual 670s but only 2GB, they have the grunt but can't hold the water. My TV was a cheap one I picked up for £200 about 5 years ago, Celcus (yeah I've not heard of em either), everything is just so washed out and grey

Don't have a monitor because like a bellend I threw my gamepad down on the desk in anger, it bounced and cracked the screen, so my TV is my primary. I'll be honest, I much prefer it, don't think I'll ever go back to monitors

Oh and I'd sell my 670s and get an SSD that works! Ever since I bought it I've had random issues that I couldn't pin to it, nothing shown in scans or anything. Over the years it's gotten worse, it's got 60gb free but if I write to it the system locks up and BSODs. Absolute pain in the jacksy
This isn't just restricted to computer bits, is it? I would probably go for a new set of speakers for the home a/v setup. Not sure if I'd go 2 x floor standers and 2 x bookshelf, or a full 5.1 set, or just blow the lot on a pair of floor standers…
A laptop! :clapping:
